Riverside Academy is now accepting applications online for the 2021-22 school year!

Our admissions process involves four steps. Submit your child(s) application online through the application tool. Please click on the following link above to complete the first step.
Application Review
After completing the first step, our Admissions Manager will review your child’s application. Once the review is completed and your child’s application has been accepted, we will notify you by the communication preferences that you selected on how to proceed with the next step.
Complete Registration

Once your child’s application has been accepted, you will be asked to complete registration forms to finalize your child’s enrollment at our Academy. These forms will help identify certain information to better serve your child.  

Student Orientation
We will contact you to schedule a date and time for you and your family to visit our academy for student orientation. Due to COVID-19, school visitations are limited for your safety and our staff.

What is Riverside West Academy?

Riverside Academy West is a tuition-free public school academy located in Dearborn, MI. Riverside Academy West offers middle and high school grades 6-12. Riverside Academy West educators are fully certified to teach by the Michigan Department of Education. Riverside Academy West is authorized through Central Michigan University and governed by a public school academy board of directors.

What if I am an English Language Learner?

The Academy seeks to provide every child, regardless of national origin or native language, quality, and meaningful educational instruction. Each students is evaluated on his/her English language proficiency. Consequently, students who are English Language Learners (ELLs) are provided instructional services through ELL programs which are designed to meet each students unique needs.

What age do I have to have to complete the program?

Students have until the age of 21 to have all course work complete in order to graduate with their high school diploma.

Are there any fees?

Our Academies are a tuition institution free for Michigan residences!

What additional student activities does Riverside Academy offer?

Students have the opportunity to join a number of athletic programs, student council, academic games, and robotics clubs. We offer afterschool programming and a number of programs lead by the Parent and Family Involvement Group for students.

How will you prepare my child for college?

High school students at Riverside Academy have access to counselors that support them when it comes to preparing for college. This includes resources for scholarships, financial aid, campus tours, enrollment applications, and more.

Every year, Riverside Academy invites counselors from all over the State of Michigan to visit our Academy and recruit students.

Does Riverside Academy offer Dual Enrollment?

Students at Riverside Academy have the opportunity to begin in their freshmen year through senior year to be a dual-enrolled student at a local college or university. They will earn credits for both high school and college, as well as having experience in a college setting prior to being a full-time college student.

What are some exciting learning opportunities for Seniors?

Seniors participate in a mandatory Capstone Project by selecting an area to research and hands-on experience by shadowing a careered professional that offers mentorship and experiential learning.  Students present these projects to their fellow students and staff.

Do I need additional course material such as textbooks or special programs?

No. All course material should be provided to students once he/she logs into his/her courses, which included all support material and programs. Riverside West Academy has made arrangements with software and major publishers to ensure all our students have legal access to the resources necessary to complete their course work.

What is the attendance policy?

The law in Michigan governing compulsory student attendance requires a parent, legal guardian, or other person having control or charge of a child age six to sixteen to send the child to school during the entire school year, except under the limited circumstances. Please make sure your child is dropped off to school every day and on on-time.

Do credits from other schools and programs count toward my diploma? (Equivalency)

Student transcripts are evaluated on a course by course basis. Student credits can be transferred to our institution as long as they meet our graduation requirements. Foreign transcripts must be translated and evaluated before submission to the Academy.
